India defeated Australia by eight wickets in the final of the ICC U-19 World Cup on Saturday, on the Bay Oval ground, thanks to the centenary innings of Man of the Match opener Manjot Kalra. The target of 217 runs scored by Australia was achieved by India, with an unbeaten 101 in Manjharth Kalra, with eight wickets in 38.5 overs. Apart from Kalra, Shuvaman Gill (31) and wicketkeeper Harvic Desai (47) scored for India. Australia, batting first in the title, were reduced to 216 in 47.2 overs. For Australia, Jonathan Merlo contributed 76 and Param Uppal contributed 34 runs. India has won the title of the U-19 World Cup for the fourth time.
